  • Is my kid too young for communication assessment?
It's never too early to start developing communication skills. Even at three months old, infants can show advanced signs of engagement and attentiveness. Watch out for those little eyes scanning faces as an indicator! To gauge your little one's communication abilities, we employ various techniques, including observing their interactions with parents, engaging them in one-on-one playtime, and conversing with adults. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to us.
  • What do parents do during sessions?
Our therapy space is an adorable one room space. We have a comfy couch in our therapy room, where parents are invited to stay and observe and/or participate in the session. In some cases, parents may prefer to wait in the car or step out during the session; this especially applies for families with other children or when parental presence is distracting!
  • What is my role as a parent?
When parents talk, they help their children grow. At PipSpeak, we see the power of conversation everyday. It's a crucial part of a child's development, and we're here to help parents create the right environment for it. Whether it's in therapy or just a chat, we know that parents play an important role in building their child's communication skills and confidence.

  • Does my kid need speech therapy?
Does your child: Sound less clear or more "babyish" than other kids their age? Have trouble answering questions or following through with directions? Elicit concerns from their teachers or others about their speech, language, or listening skills? Appear to lag behind on those important talking milestones? Have a history of hearing issues that could be impacting their speech? Struggle with joining in play or conversation with peers appropriately? Often forget common words, or seem easily flustered? If these questions strike a chord, let's chat. A friendly consultation might just be the first step to clarity and confidence.
